The Spirit and the Genesis are Weber's hooded gas barbecues on cabinet carts, the step up from a Family Q. In their three-burner E-325 versions, the Genesis has about 40% more grill area and a quarter more heat than the Spirit, a longer warranty on everything but the burner tubes, and costs about $700 more. It is also 33cm wider.

Weber Spirit E-325
The Spirit E-325 has three burners of 32.7 MJ in total over porcelain-enamelled cast iron grills, with two boost burners that Weber says give 40% more power in the sear zone. It comes with a cast iron half hotplate, lit control knobs and a cabinet that hides a full-size gas cylinder. The Good Guys and Weber sell it at the same price.
Weber covers its cookbox and lid for ten years but the grills for five and the remaining parts for two.

Weber Genesis E-325
The Genesis E-325 steps up to 41.1 MJ, a 3,310 cm² main grill and a sear zone that Weber says reaches about 400°C, with a cast iron griddle included and a lid thermometer. Weber covers the cookbox and lid for 12 years, the grills and Flavorizer bars for ten, and everything else for five. Weber's store includes delivery and assembly where it has a technician in the area.
It is 156cm wide and 61kg, and The Good Guys doesn't stock it.

What actually differs
Size and heat. The Genesis has 3,310 cm² of main grill to the Spirit's 2,323, and 41.1 MJ to 32.7. Weber rates the Genesis at 17 steaks.
Warranty. The Genesis is ahead on every line except the burner tubes, which both cover for ten years: 12 years against 10 on the cookbox and lid, 10 against 5 on the grills and Flavorizer bars, and 5 against 2 on the remaining parts.
What comes with it. The Spirit includes a half hotplate. The Genesis includes a full cast iron griddle and has a lid thermometer.
Space. The Genesis is 156cm wide with its side tables, the Spirit 123cm.
Four burners. Both come as E-425 four-burner models too, and The Good Guys sells the Spirit E-425. The Spirit E-425 costs about $200 more than the E-325 and the Genesis E-425 about $300 more.

The Spirit E-325 suits a family cooking most nights on a standard patio, for the lower price.
