Home Muse is a publisher. There are no accounts, no newsletter, no comments and no shopping cart, so there is very little for the site to collect. This page sets out what it does collect and what the few third parties involved can see.
What the site collects
Server logs. The site is hosted on Vercel. Like every web server, it records the IP address, browser user agent, requested URL, referring page and timestamp of each request. These logs are used to keep the site running and to investigate faults, and they are discarded on Vercel's own retention schedule.
Google Analytics 4. One analytics property, G-WKQN2P8BJN, loaded from googletagmanager.com. It records which pages are visited, roughly where in the world the visitor is, and what kind of device and browser they are using. It sets first-party cookies named _ga and _ga_* to tell a returning visitor from a new one. Google Analytics 4 truncates IP addresses before storing them and does not record the full address. Nothing is passed to Google Analytics that would identify you by name, and no advertising or remarketing features are switched on.
That is the entire list. Home Muse runs no advertising, no ad network, no remarketing pixels and no social tracking.
What used to be here
Until September 2026 the site also loaded a Google Tag Manager container carried over from the WordPress version, which fired a Universal Analytics tag. Universal Analytics stopped processing data in July 2023, so the tag had no destination. The container has been removed and the cookies it set are no longer created.
Affiliate links
Many outbound product links on this site are affiliate links, described in full on the earnings disclosure page. Following one sends you to the retailer through a tracking domain belonging to an affiliate network, which sets its own cookie so the retailer can attribute a sale.
The networks used are Amazon Associates, eBay Partner Network, Commission Factory, Partnerize, Impact and Rakuten Advertising. Once you leave this site you are on the retailer's and the network's own terms, and their privacy policies apply. No affiliate cookie is set until you actually click a link.
We receive only aggregate reports from those networks: how many clicks and sales came from which page. We are not told who you are.
Embedded content
Some articles embed YouTube videos through youtube-nocookie.com, which does not set tracking cookies unless you press play.
Some older articles show product photographs served from Amazon's image CDN. Loading those images tells Amazon's servers your IP address and browser, in the same way that visiting any page with images from another domain does.

Every browser can block or clear cookies, per site or entirely. Blocking them will not stop you reading anything here.
Google publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics on every site you visit.
Consent
Home Muse is written for an Australian audience and handles personal information under the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles, which do not require consent to be collected before analytics cookies are set. If you are reading from somewhere that does require it, blocking cookies for this domain or using the Google opt-out add-on above has the same effect, and nothing on the site depends on them.
Children
The site is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
Material changes to this policy will move the date at the top of this page.
