Weber's model numbers carry most of the differences between its Q barbecues. The first digit is the size, a higher number within a size adds features, an N marks the current generation, and a + marks a second, smaller burner. Weber launched this third generation in Australia and New Zealand in September 2023, according to its guide to the Q generations.

What the numbers mean
Size. Baby Q models start with 1, the Weber Q with 2 and the Family Q with 3. The Baby Q has a 46 by 36cm grill, the Weber Q 57 by 41cm and the Family Q 61 by 46cm. The Good Guys' listings put that at 9, 12 and 15 burgers of 10cm.
The +. A Q+ adds a second burner of 4.2 MJ beside the main one. Weber's Q2600N+ page says it is for high searing and for low and slow cooking.
The higher number in each size. The Q1200N, Q2200N, Q2800N+ and Q3200N+ list a lid thermometer and electronic ignition, and the models below them in each size have neither. Weber calls these Premium models without defining the word, and its store also titles the Q1000N a Premium even though that model lists piezo ignition and no thermometer.
Smart. The QX models replace the lid thermometer with a wi-fi digital thermometer and a wired food probe that report to Weber's Connect app. Both are LPG only.
The N. Every current Q ends in N. The older Q1000, Q2000 and Q3100 without the N are the second generation, sold from 2013, and Weber's accessory guide lists which accessories fit each generation.
One warranty across the range
Weber's warranty covers every Q the same way: five years against rust-through or burn-through on the cookbox, lid, burner tubes and cast iron grills, five years on plastic parts, two years on the paint and two years on everything else. The "Up to 15 Years Warranty" banner on Weber's product pages refers to the cookbox of its Summit barbecues, not the Q.
Best for Balconies and Camping: Baby Q1000N
The Baby Q1000N is the smallest and cheapest Q, with one 10.6 MJ burner under a 46 by 36cm cast iron grill. It weighs 9.1kg and is 66cm wide with the lid closed, and it runs on LPG only. The Q1200N adds a lid thermometer, electronic ignition and two side tables for about $30 more.
It has no thermometer, and one owner reviewing it at The Good Guys docked a star for exactly that.

Best Value Full-Size Q: Weber Q2000N
The Q2000N moves up to a 57 by 41cm grill and a 14.8 MJ burner, with removable side tables, at 14.5kg. It is the cheapest Q at this size, and The Good Guys sells it in Flame Red.
Like the Baby Q1000N it has piezo ignition and no thermometer, and it has only the one burner.

Best All-Rounder: Weber Q+ Q2600N+
The Q2600N+ keeps the Q2000N's grill and adds the 4.2 MJ second burner, for 19 MJ in total. That gives a hotter zone for searing and a gentler one for slow cooking, and Weber lists it as compatible with its Connect hub, sold separately. It costs about $70 more than the Q2000N and comes in LPG or natural gas.
It has piezo ignition and no lid thermometer; the Q2800N+ adds both for about $10 more at Weber.

Best for Families: Family Q+ Q3100N+
The Family Q+ has the largest grill in the range, 61 by 46cm, a 19 MJ main burner plus the 4.2 MJ second burner, and a fixed cart with a cabinet door. The Good Guys sells the Q3100N+ for about $20 less than Weber.
The cart is fixed, so the Family Q is the size that stays at home, and one owner at The Good Guys noted that assembly took some time.

Best for App Monitoring: Weber Q+ Smart QX2800N+
The QX2800N+ is the Q+ with a wi-fi digital thermometer and a wired food probe, which send the grill and food temperatures to Weber's Connect app; the app also gives step-by-step cooking guides. Its page lists a five-year limited warranty. It costs about $80 more than the Q2800N+.
It is LPG only, and The Good Guys does not stock it.

Which Q suits which cook
A Baby Q suits a balcony, a caravan or a couple. A Weber Q or Q+ suits most households; Weber pitches it as small enough for the park and big enough for a family lunch, and the Q+ suits anyone who sears steak or cooks slowly. A Family Q+ suits bigger families with a permanent spot for it. The Premium models suit cooks who roast with the lid down and want a thermometer on it.

Which Weber Q models run on natural gas?
The Q2200N, Q2600N+, Q2800N+, Q3100N+, Q3200N+ and the built-in Q3600N+ come in natural gas versions. The Baby Q models, the Q2000N and both Smart QX models are LPG only.
Can a Weber Q cook pizza?
With a stone. Weber sells a 26cm stone for the Baby Q, and a 26cm or 36cm stone for the Weber Q and Family Q, according to its guide to pizza on a Q. Weber doesn't make a pizza oven.
What does the + burner do?
It is a second, smaller burner of 4.2 MJ beside the main burner, which gives two heat zones on the same grill.
