The Emma Luxe Pro is Emma Sleep's top-of-the-range mattress. It's a hybrid design, meaning it combines multiple foam layers on top with a pocket spring base underneath.
Delivery to our Melbourne metro address was quick, arriving within a few days. The mattress comes vacuum-sealed and rolled up inside a box, which makes it easy enough to move through the house.
One thing worth noting: make sure you've got plenty of space cleared before you cut the plastic open. Once you release the seal, it starts expanding straight away, and you want it in position on your bed base before that happens. Give it a few hours to fully puff up and you're good to go.
How Does It Feel?
Emma rates the Luxe Pro as medium-soft, a 3 out of 10 on their firmness scale, where 10 is the firmest. After a week of sleeping on it, we'd agree with that rating. You feel a decent amount of give when you lie down, particularly around the shoulders and hips.
But it doesn't feel like you're sinking into a hole. There's genuine support underneath the softness, which presumably comes from the combination of the AirGrid foam layer and the pocket spring base working together.
We will say that firmness is always going to be subjective and will depend on your body weight and sleeping position. If you're a heavier person, you may find it sits closer to a medium feel rather than medium-soft. Lighter sleepers will probably notice more of that plush, cushioned sensation.
For us, it hits a good balance. Soft enough to feel comfortable from the first night, firm enough that you don't wake up with a sore back.
Even after just a week, the support feels solid. There's no sense of the mattress bottoming out or sagging in the middle. The 7-zone pocket spring system underneath seems to do a good job of keeping everything stable, and the foam layers on top contour to your body without letting you sink too deep.
It works well across all sleeping positions. Back sleeping feels well supported through the lumbar area, side sleeping gives enough give through the shoulders and hips, and stomach sleeping keeps your hips from dipping too far down.
Partner Disturbance
This is one area where the Luxe Pro does well. As a hybrid mattress with individually pocketed springs, it isolates motion reasonably effectively.
We would guess it's not quite at the level of a pure all-foam mattress but for real-world sleeping, it's been more than adequate. Couples shouldn't have major issues here, though very light sleepers might still notice some movement.
Temperature and Breathability
Emma makes a big deal about the AirGrid layer and UltraDry cover working together to regulate temperature, and the hybrid construction with pocket springs should help with airflow compared to an all-foam mattress.
Unfortunately, we've been testing this mattress during cooler weather in Melbourne, so we haven't been able to properly put the cooling claims to the test yet.
For now, all we can say is that during cool autumn nights, the mattress hasn't felt like it traps heat. It's comfortable without feeling clammy or stuffy. But the real test will come when temperatures climb. We'll update this review once we've slept through some proper warm weather.
The Cover
The UltraDry cover is removable and machine washable, which is a practical plus. It's made from polyester and has a clean, modern look with a white top and grey bottom, separated by a subtle accent line.
It feels soft to the touch and doesn't make any rustling noises when you move around. There are four handles on the sides for repositioning the mattress, which is handy, as it is a very heavy mattress.
What's Included
Emma offers a 150-night trial period, which gives you roughly five months to decide if it's right for you. If it's not, they'll arrange a return and refund at no cost for metro addresses (regional areas may incur a small delivery fee).
There's also a 10-year warranty covering manufacturing defects. The 150-night trial is on the generous end compared to most online mattress brands in Australia.
Early Verdict
After one week, our initial impression of the Emma Luxe Pro is positive. It's comfortable, supportive, and easy to set up. The medium-soft feel won't suit everyone. If you prefer a firm mattress, this probably isn't for you. But for those who like a bit of plushness with proper support underneath, it delivers.
The build quality feels premium. The multiple foam layers and pocket spring combination give it a well-engineered feel rather than a generic bed-in-a-box experience. Motion isolation is good for couples, and the cover is practical and easy to maintain.
We'll be updating this review after sleeping on the mattress for a longer period, particularly once we've had a chance to test it through warmer temperatures.
