What actually differs
Profiles. The Rivelia's screen opens on the last person's drinks. In a house where one person takes a short strong flat white and another a long weak latte, this ends the button-pressing.
Beans. Lift the hopper off, drop another on, and Bean Adapt re-tunes grind and dose. Decaf for the evening, single origin for the weekend. The Evo has one hopper and you empty it to change beans.
Carafe. 500ml against 220ml. Two large lattes from one fill.
Ratings. 4.9 against 4.4. The Rivelia's owners are a smaller pool, but the gap is large enough to take seriously.
Espresso. The 19-bar pump and Bean Adapt matter more for consistency across beans than for a single well-set bean; both extract at similar pressure in the cup.
The Rivelia costs the same as the Magnifica Plus at The Good Guys and offers more; between those two, the Rivelia is the better buy.
FAQs
Does the Rivelia come with two hoppers?
The standard model comes with one Bean Switch hopper. Extra hoppers are sold separately by De'Longhi.
Can the Magnifica Evo do a flat white?
Not as a preset. It does cappuccino, hot milk and MyLatte; a flat white is made by running an espresso and then hot milk with the froth setting low.
Is the Rivelia bigger?
About 2cm taller and 3kg heavier; the width is nearly the same at 24.5cm.
