The Dedica Arte suits anyone who wants the cheapest 15cm-wide espresso machine going. Two-year warranty. It is new enough that owner reviews are only a handful, all positive so far.
The steam wand is still manual, and with only a few reviews there is no track record yet.

The Dedica for people who care about milk and dose. Automatic milk texturing with three temperature and three texture settings, single-wall baskets with a La Specialista-style portafilter that holds up to 20 grams, three infusion temperatures (92, 94 and 96°C) and a bigger 1.6-litre tank. It is 19cm wide rather than 15. Owners rate it 4.4 from about 20 reviews at The Good Guys.
Single-wall baskets mean it needs a proper burr grinder to work well; pre-ground supermarket coffee will run fast and thin.

What actually differs
Warranty and rating. The Arte is the only one-year machine here and the only one with a sub-4.3 score. The $80 to the Duo buys a second year and a newer design.
Baskets. Pressurised baskets on the Arte forgive pre-ground coffee and pods. The Maestro Plus's single-wall baskets reward a grinder and punish its absence. The Duo sits between.
Milk. Only the Maestro Plus textures milk automatically. On the other two you steam by hand with a wand that owners describe as adequate rather than strong.
Cold brew. Duo only.
If a 15cm width is the constraint, the choice is Arte or Duo, and the Duo is the better buy. If width isn't the constraint, the Breville Bambino at 19cm competes directly with the Maestro Plus.

Is the Dedica Arte the same as the old Dedica EC685?
It is the successor. The Arte added the My LatteArt wand and a tamper; the body, 15cm width and 1.1L tank carried over. De'Longhi still lists the EC685 but retailers have moved to the Arte and Duo.
Can the Dedica Duo use ESE pods?
De'Longhi lists 1 and 2 cup filters for the Duo and does not list ESE compatibility, unlike the Arte.
