We spend more than 30% of our lives in our bedrooms so it makes sense to take some care in turning this room into a warm and inviting sanctuary.
One of the great ways to do this is through some well selected artwork. Read on for inspiration and advice regarding adding some wall art to your bedroom.
bedroom wall art
If you have an eye for design, then feel free to get creative with your bedroom art.
If it’s not one of your strengths, however, try to follow these simple rules:
- Large walls need to be filled with large pieces (otherwise they may look lost on the wall)
- If hanging above the bed, your art, or grouping of art, should take up 2/3 the length of the headboard
- The bottom of the frame should be around 25cm-30cm above the headboard. Don’t fall into the trap of centering it between the headboard and ceiling.
Don’t be afraid to hang multiple items on your walls, however it’s usually a good idea to have your largest piece centered above the bed.
Colour coding your art to your rooms decor is a great way to tie in it with the rest of the room.
Choose which items in the room you want to be your accent pieces. In this room the wall art follows the colour scheme of the walls and bed, while the brown leather chair adds some colour.
Remember artwork doesn’t always need to be hung. A few items can look great together on a ledge, or even leaning against a wall.
Wall murals are another great option if you feel like more of a project.
Kids bedroom wall art
Artwork for kids rooms present a different kind of challenge.
